Ruth Outdoors (“Ruth Outdoors,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Ruth Tracker mobile application. Ruth Tracker is designed to connect hunters seeking wounded-deer recovery assistance with trackers who use trained tracking dogs.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Ruth Tracker collects, how we use and protect that information, when information may be shared, and the choices available to users.

When you use Ruth Tracker, we may collect information that you provide directly to us, including your name or display name, email address, account type (Hunter or Tracker), tracker profile information, dog name and breed, service area, experience, pricing information, biography, photographs, tracking requests, recovery information, messages, reviews, and other information you choose to provide.

Ruth Tracker uses location information to provide tracking and recovery features.

Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, the app may collect precise GPS location information, including locations associated with a shot, last blood, tracking routes, tracking markers, recovery locations, and tracker service areas.

Location information may be used to display maps, calculate distances, record tracking routes, help hunters and trackers coordinate a recovery, and provide other location-based features.

Ruth Tracker only accesses device location according to the permissions granted through your device. You may control location permissions through your device settings, although disabling location access may prevent certain tracking features from functioning properly.

Users may upload photographs, including profile photos, dog photos, and photographs related to tracking or recovery requests.

Users may also provide messages, reviews, notes, tracking markers, and other content through the app.

Information intentionally included in a public tracker profile, such as a tracker name, dog information, service area, experience, biography, profile photographs, pricing information, availability, statistics, and reviews, may be visible to other Ruth Tracker users.

Ruth Tracker collects information necessary to create, authenticate, maintain, and secure user accounts. This may include an email address, account identifier, account role, and authentication-related information.

Passwords are handled through our authentication service and are not displayed publicly.

When using Ruth Tracker's recovery features, information may be collected concerning a tracking request and recovery, including shot location, last-blood location, GPS track points, route distance, route duration, tracking markers, recovery status, notes, photographs, and related information.

This information is used to provide the tracking service, maintain recovery history, calculate tracker statistics, and allow appropriate Hunters and Trackers to view information associated with their requests.

Ruth Tracker allows Hunters and Trackers to communicate regarding tracking requests. Messages sent through the app may be stored so that the messaging feature can operate.

The app may also use push-notification information to send notifications concerning tracking requests, accepted requests, messages, completed recoveries, reviews, and other account or service activity.

Users can control notification permissions through their device settings.

Hunters may use Ruth Tracker without a paid membership. Trackers may be required to maintain a paid Ruth Tracker membership to access certain Tracker features.

On Android, subscription purchases are processed through Google Play. Ruth Tracker uses RevenueCat to verify and manage subscription status.

Ruth Tracker does not collect or store users' full payment-card numbers.

Subscription-related information may include purchase history, product identifiers, transaction or purchase identifiers, subscription status, renewal status, expiration dates, and information necessary to verify membership eligibility.

RevenueCat states that it processes purchase information for subscription functionality and verification. 

Ruth Tracker does not process payments for individual deer-tracking or recovery services between Hunters and Trackers.

Any price, payment method, or other financial arrangement for a tracking service is arranged independently between the Hunter and Tracker. Ruth Tracker is not a party to those payments.

We may use information collected through Ruth Tracker to operate and provide the app; create and maintain accounts; connect Hunters with Trackers; provide mapping, GPS tracking, messaging, recovery-history, review, and notification features; verify Tracker memberships; maintain service functionality and security; prevent fraud or misuse; respond to support requests; comply with legal obligations; and improve Ruth Tracker.

We do not sell users' precise GPS tracking information.

Ruth Tracker relies on third-party service providers to operate portions of the service.

These may include:

Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, server functions, and related backend services.

Google Play — Android app distribution and subscription purchase processing.

RevenueCat — subscription verification and membership management.

Expo and related notification services — application infrastructure and push-notification delivery.

Mapping services — map display, navigation, and related location functionality.

These providers may process information necessary to perform their services on our behalf and are subject to their respective privacy and security practices.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, enforce our rights, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect the security and integrity of Ruth Tracker.

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information handled through Ruth Tracker.

Information transmitted between the app and its backend services is transmitted using secure network connections where supported.

No electronic storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and therefore we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain user information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Ruth Tracker, maintain accounts and service records, satisfy legitimate operational requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it is maintained.

Users may request deletion of their Ruth Tracker account and associated personal information.

Certain information may be retained where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legitimate purposes permitted by law.

Ruth Tracker is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that such information has been collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Users can control certain information through their Ruth Tracker account and device settings.

Depending on the device and operating system, users may be able to control location access, photo access, and notifications.

Disabling certain permissions may limit the functionality of Ruth Tracker.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Ruth Tracker changes or as legal or regulatory requirements evolve.

When we make changes, we will update the effective date displayed at the top of this policy. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or other appropriate means.
